Are you looking for a fun indoor activity to do with your toddler? Well the holiday season is upon us so what better time than now to whip out the Christmas crafts! This DIY Christmas Craft is so fun and toddler approved. I saw a really cool velcro Christmas tree on pinterest that I wanted to make for my 14 month old but after looking at all of the supplies I would have needed, I realized that it would have cost much less to just buy it than to make it and hey! Thats not the point. We want to show an affordable DIY Christmas Craft that your toddler will actually like playing with. So, here is what you will need!
Christmas Craft Supplies
- Green Garland
- 3-4 Wire Coat Hangers
- Green felt
- Double sided tape
- Scissors
- Command Hook
- Velcro circles
- Mini Pompoms
- Green Ribbon
The best part about all of this is that every single supply item for this Christmas Craft can be found at the dollar store!
So lets get into the instructions.
- Gently stretch out your hangers so that the opening is a little wider than how they originally come. You’ll want to make sure you have enough space for the felt to hold the “pompom ornaments”
- Take all of your green garland and wrap it around your wire hangers. Depending on how large you want your tree, you can either use 3 or 4 hangers. I used 3 and it was the perfect size. When wrapping the garland you can cover the hook at the top or leave it, it really wont change much other than the amount of garland you might need.
- Next step is to cut out some felt pieces and attach them to the back of your hangers using the double sided tape. You will want to make sure that the entire open space of the hanger is covered. Don’t worry about how the back looks because once you turn it around no one will ever know.
- The you will want to attach each hanger to the next. Making sure that the hook part at the top is hidden behind the felt. I used some green ribbon to tie the hangers together.
- Attach the velcro pieces to both the felt on your tree and the pompoms. Each velcro circle will have different sides. One goes on the felt, one goes on the pompom.
- Hang up your tree on the wall and let your little one enjoy removing and replacing the ornaments!
